Winding Down an Unpredictable Year with a Little Soulful Color
The soulful colors of decadent browns, jewel tones and muted plums are the stuff of dreams y’all! The best part is that they lend themselves to Fall weather effortlessly. Thanks to Jennifer and Jewel’s Colorful Home Life blog hop, I get to show you how we hygge with these colors all year long.
In case you haven’t noticed, I am not a seasonal decorator. But the close of summer coupled with staying at home more has encouraged me to at least change the placement of a few things in my home to spark feelings of comfort, warmth and relaxation.

Anchoring Our Spaces with Year-Round Coziness
There are elements I use in nearly every room of our home. Ironically each facet plays a role in keeping the rooms relevant, no matter the season. The five items that I use in nearly every room of our home are:
Fur
Animal print
A hint of black
Greenery, and
An unexpected splash of color (of course)

A Soulful Dining Space
Bolder pops of color and soulful art is how we breathe depth into our dining space. Notice that although we’ve used more saturated hues, none of the rooms in our home are dark. Nor do they have a sense of “heaviness”. Rather, they are meaningful, somewhat eloquent and uplifting.
You may also be surprised to know that these two living and dining room spaces combined make up less than 325 square feet. Yes, that wasn’t a typo— less than 325sqft. Yet is feels spacious. There’s definitely something to be said about strategic furniture placement. Would you believe, that we’ve comfortably entertained as many as 15 people in these two spaces alone?
Numbers like that certainly wouldn’t work during the current pandemic. But it’s nice to know that we have the space when the outside world finally re-opens.
DINING ROOM:
Custom dining chair covers // Hanging planter (DIY see this post) // Zebra Shades // Faux cow hide rug // Wallpaper
LIVING ROOM:
Artwork (Titled: Hand Me My Bag) // Rug (similar) // Boho lady artwork // Cheetah lumbar pillows on chairs // Black and gold frames (each comes with a hanging template - priceless) // All other items were thrifted finds, treasures from our travels, or items we already on hand.
