Girls Night In: Nails & Cocktails Gift Box

If you've been keeping up with me during the last week or so, you already know that I'm preparing for a girls night soon.  Just in case you missed the earlier posts on how I set up a simple bar cart, and upgraded simple glass plates,  you can check out the photos here, and here.

Today I'm sharing an inexpensive gift box that I put together just for my best girls. What's even better is that I spent less than $10 per gift box.

Create a Gift that Will "Wow" Your Besties on Girl's Night

For this project you will need:

  • A gift box* to create a keepsake (or bag if you prefer not to wrap anything)
  • Wrapping paper
  • Tape & scissors
  • Paper doilies for
  • Goodies for the box...but we'll get to that part later

*I recommend selecting a square box.  As you read through this post you'll understand why.

I started by wrapping this fancy lidded box that I found at Dollar Tree ($1).  The gold dotted paper was purchased at Marshalls's ($4.99/roll)

I wrapped and wrapped, and... well, at this point I have to honestly admit that I don't see wrapping anymore round boxes in my future.  Way too tedious.

The doilies, which were purchased from Walmart ($1.88/30pcs), were used to create a makeshift bow.  I simply folded four individual doilies in half - twice - and hot glued them to the lids in a circular fashion.  I then fanned out the folds to create a 3-D bow, and embellished the "bow" with some bling from a leftover from a different project.

My apologies for not including photos of that step.  (You can tell that I'm not a die-hard crafter, huh?) Once the hot glue burns on my fingers have healed, I promise I will update this post with the missing photos.  Ha!

Now that we've gotten that out of the way let's get to the good part.  Let's take a look at what I put inside each of the four boxes.

All of us ladies have such busy lives taking care of our husbands, children and homes.  Most times there are just a few minutes in between rushing off to the next appointment.  So a "Nails & Cocktails" gift box, packed with some me-time-essentials is perfect.  Inside I've included:

  • A bottle of nail polish ($1)
  • Hand cream with an emory board ($2.99)
  • Chocolate ($3.50/pack of 10 = $.35/ea)
  • A mini bottle of Bacardi Pineapple Rum ($1)
  • A mini bottle of Limited Editon Cîroc Summer Colada ($1.99)

There you have it - a Nails & Cocktails gift box!  Not only is the box great for the initial gift presentation, but it can be used in their workplace offices to hold other items like toiletries, a sewing kits, or even tea bags.  I LOVE that!   Please tell me, what do YOU think of this gift idea?

One more favor may I ask of you?
