Wedding Week: Gold and White Reception Inspiration

Welcome Wedding Week: Day 1

Welcome to my first ever Wedding Week!  Although most of my topics cover home and commercial spaces, as the name of this blog clearly states - J'adore le Décor.  So anything related to design and decorating has a chance to be featured here.

And nothing - nothing excites me more than outfitting a wedding reception venue.  This week I plan to share a few DIY projects, budget friendly options, and chic color schemes.  All settings have been created with a modest sized outdoor reception in mind.  But all ideas can be adapted to fit any venue or budget.  So let's jump right in with our first color scheme: Gold and White.

Affiliate links may be included in this post.  This means that should you purchase a linked product, I may receive a small commission, but at no additional cost to you.  To read my full disclosure click here.

Decorating for different venues over the years has left me with a small stash of reception goodies.  So nearly ALL of these items were taken from my own home.  I also happen to have a family member who shares my love of venue decorating.  And she kindly lent me a few table pieces for this weeks' features.

You saw most of these in my craft room post last week.  After taking inventory of my collection, I realized that I had just enough to stage this outdoor reception.  I will be sure to include as many links as possible to where the items can be found.

When creating this color scheme, I had in mind the charm and grace of the Southern part of the United States mixed with  modern undertones.  I wanted it to look rich without being too fussy.  Let's take a look...

The table is set for six.  The square bowls are from the Better Homes and Gardens line sold at Walmart.  These are my everyday cereal bowls by the way.  The vase is actually a candy dish, minus the glass topper.  I purchased it from HomeGoods for a previous party a few years back.  The gold flutes are from Pier One.  The gold paper cake plates are also from Walmart.  And the white (restaurant quality) dinner plates and the stemless wine glasses are - believe it or not - from Dollar Tree.  Did you know that you can order items in bulk from Dollar Tree online?

The large white table roses are from Hobby Lobby.  Finally, ALL of the flowers you will see featured this week are from Dollar Tree.

When I saw these  modern YUM menu cards above from Minted, I just had to have them!  So chic and modern don't you think?

I love the softness of these oversized roses from Hobby Lobby.

Although the donuts, cupcakes and strawberry shortcake are real, the wedding cake is simple Styrofoam.   If you're looking for great tasting, gorgeous cupcakes, try Sam's Club (U.S only).  Yes, Sam's has an awesome bakery.  And the price can't be beat!

This mirrored sign has a message of well wishes for the bride and groom.  It reads: " Paix, Amour et Bonheur", which in French means, "Peace, Love and Happiness".   In another post, I'll show you how I created it.

Here is yet another DIY.  These hoops not only serve as great outdoor reception decor, but when guests stand behind them they become great oversized "photo booth" frames.

Paper flowers (below) were created for me by my little friend Eliza.  Eliza is a bubbly sixteen year-old native of Congo who speaks five languages fluently.  She's been housebound for nearly 4 months due to a surgery to correct a severe deformity in her leg.  To keep her spirits up, she creates these beautiful flowers.  If you like them, please let Eliza know in the comments below!

And that wraps up our gold and white theme.  What do you think abut this color scheme?  Are you planning an upcoming wedding?
