Guess Who Was Nominated for an Amara Blog Award This Year?

NEVER in a million years did I ever think this would happen to me!  J'adore le Décor has been nominated for an Amara Interior Blog Award.  This year I qualified for the Best Interior Lifestyle Blog category.  To the person(s) responsible for this distinction, a heartfelt Thank You ☺️.

Amara's Interior Blog Awards Celebrate Respected Bloggers

For those of you not familiar with Amara, it is a luxury home furnishings and interior design firm.  Missoni Home, William Yeoward Crysta, Versace Home and Ralph Lauren Home are just a few of the brands included in their homewares.

Amara is a brand with an intimate understanding of all the work that goes into running a blog.  In an effort to, in their words,  "give back to the vibrant interior blogging community for all of their amazing work", they host an annual awards ceremony for respected bloggers.

Originally I was supposed to blog about a completely different subject today.  You see, I thought this whole thing was just a hoax.  'Why on earth would a world-renowned luxury interiors retailer take notice of my blog?', I thought.  Apparently, I was nominated anonymously by some kind soul(s).  Still, so unconvinced I was of this reality that I literally didn't even think about writing this post until this afternoon.

I am a 40-something, hyperactive creative (LOL) who chose to start a blog as a means to channel my love for whimsical and jaw-dropping interiors, to make a few others feel good through my writing in the process, and to relieve a bit of stress.  Seemingly mundane reasons I know.  Yet, every graphic, photo and mood board featured, the construction of every post, and even the design of this website has been a labor of love.  Receiving an award or nomination for this blog was never a goal.  Respect, however, is something I pursue in every endeavor - whether the result is wildly successful or not.

I make lots of mistakes on this little blog of mine.  When that happens I do my best to accept, fix and avoid repeating them.  No, I don't need to be THE best in everything.  Such extreme perfectionism is a waste of time and can provoke an ugly, distorted view of oneself.  But I do like to walk away from a task knowing that I gave it a valiant effort.  You can't put a price on self-respect.  For these reasons, I chose to accept the nomination.

How You Can Help an Amara Blog Award Nominee

So what happens next?  Well, I’m expected to gather more nominations.  Quite a number of stellar blogs have also been nominated for the same category.  What an honor to be mentioned among those whom I view as MY mentors!  Truthfully, I don’t anticipate getting very far in the running.  And honestly I'm okay with that.  The nomination is satisfying enough.  Nevertheless, I’ve included a link below that will take you to a page where you can show your support.  Please click the image below to view the nomination form.

Thank you for continuing to read my little blog.  I'll keep you posted on the outcome of the awards.  We will get back to our regularly scheduled program in a couple of days.  For now tell me please:

  • Have you ever heard of the Amara Blog Awards?
  • Can you name any Interior Decor/Design blogs that you follow?
  • Do you think bloggers should even receive an award for what we do?
