Crush the Look by Anchoring it With Black

Color is such an amazing element. It can deliver a unique experience on sight. When it comes to decorating small spaces though, many people tend to shy away from more saturated hues. “Go light and bright” is the advice I always hear. While that’s certainly the safe route, it may not necessarily be what you, the homeowner wants to see day in and day out.

For years I styled my home the “safe” way. I shied away from all the vibrancy that I secretly loved seeing in eclectic homes. Sure my home looked nice. But it wasn’t me (or my husband). Only when I started to embrace other colors did I began to thoroughly enjoy my home and see its potential.

While gazing out the window during a recent train commute, I started to reflect on the wonderful world of color. I thought it might be nice to take you readers a journey by examining a few individual colors. The following poem is what I dictated into my phone notes as I thought about the important role that shades of black play in home decor.
